As a former boarder I have noticed that the stalls are not always properly cleaned and that turnout is of a short duration. The lessons given put the school horses, who are full of bad habits, and student at risk by not properly assessing the student’s level and catering their needs. If you value the health of your horse and/or child look at other barns before coming to hinckley equestrian center.

I was hired on here in 2007 when they were first opening, and my responsibilities were supposed to be cleaning out stalls, assisting boarders when needed, and feeding the horses; but, my manager also used me to put together around 10 to 15 stalls over the course of 2 weeks (they were in the final stages of building and getting boarders already), which was not in the job description but I did it anyway. After they were done using me to put stalls together, they fired me claiming that I was scared of the horses (I’ve been working with horses since 1999 and you can ask anyone who knows me how much I love them; and there were a few horses that only let me near them, and no one else besides their owners) and something else I don’t remember. Now, this was a completely unfair firing as I did everything they asked without complaint (even if it wasn’t what I was technically supposed to do) and another friend of ours who has dealt professionally with horses and watched me with them said they used me for their construction and made up an excuse to fire me when they didn’t need me anymore. Also, I think, it had to do with the fact I ride western exclusively, and they only do english. The only people I liked who were actually nice and caring toward the horses were the people boarding their horses there. If the same staff are running this place, run away fast.
